Science is made fun at Beard family activity day

When was the last time you spent a Sunday afternoon making and exploding paint filled rockets, launching mini hot air balloons, and making disgustingly gooey slime?  For some of us, it was last weekend!

To support the lottery bid for the Science Museum Wroughton, Beard staff brought their families to the museum, and had a great time, learning a few scientific facts along the way.  Michelle Fearns, who works for the Science Museum, made all the ‘experiments’ interesting and fun for both children and adults. Even spectators became involved as they dodged the showers of pink and purple paint, which exploded at regular intervals around the Beard marquee.  The tie-dye effect T-shirts display the end results, and will be worn with pride!

We were lucky to be able to join in the Heritage weekend events, which included kite making and flying model planes.  The sunshine arrived just after our buffet lunch, bringing more visitors to the museum.  Sally Pettipher donated a box of ‘Inspired’ T-shirts for the Beard party, and spoke a few words, asking for everyone’s support when the lottery bid voting takes place in early December.  We will let you know when to tune in to your television sets.

The activities we all enjoyed on Sunday are a small sample of what the museum will be able to offer when the International show piece is completed in 2010. If they win the lottery bid, it will be sooner, and from the response of all the Beard staff who came on Sunday, the Science Museum is certainly assured of their vote!
