More awards for Beard -
Nick Bradely wins Project Manager of the Year for Bodleian Proscholium

Beard’s Senior Projects Manager, Nick Bradley, has won a Chartered Institute of Building Project Manager of the Year Award for his work on the Bodleian Library Proscholium

The CIOB Berkshire and Oxfordshire award, for projects under £1million, follows  a twelve week project at Oxford’s historic Bodleian Library, which dates back to 1610.  Nick Bradley’s team had to modernise security, electrical and heating arrangements, bringing 21st century communication capabilities to this working library to make future exhibitions more interactive and dynamic.  In addition the team installed new glass security doors to protect the Library’s priceless collections.

A key challenge involved lifting the entire ancient York stone floor to accommodate security and CCTV cabling and then relaying it in exactly the same position, as if it had never been disturbed. Power, lighting and air curtain heating were also installed throughout the area.

Andrew MacDuff, Support Services Manager, Bodleian Library: “Under the leadership of Nick Bradley, the team from Beards has met each and every challenge of this project and have constantly responded with courteous good humour to our requirements as they developed.”
