Clive Bassett, Finance Director

Clive Bassett trained as a Chartered Accountant and prior to Beard worked as a Commercial Director/Manager for a vehicle-based business providing turnkey solutions for vehicles to utilities companies and other blue chip organisations.  He also worked in commercial and finance positions for automotive parts distributors and a serviced office management company as well as spending some time working for KPMG.

Clive believes that he is a commercially aware Finance Director with experience of change management and FTSE controls and processes: making him practicable and realistic! (Or at least that's his view!).

Without doubt Clive’s biggest achievement in his career was winning and implementing a PFI with London Fire Brigade to provide a turnkey solution for their vehicle and equipment fleets for 20 years. At Beard, with significant help from his finance team, Clive improved and automated processes and procedures to transact 100% growth in turnover on the same staff base. This ranks as a big achievement!

 Despite his better judgement Clive enjoys a game of football or a bike ride.  He also enjoys DIY: probably because as an Accountant he does not like paying somebody to do things that he can do. 

Clive believes that happiness is doing something that he enjoys because he can: perfect happiness would be being paid excessively for it.  As he is no Lewis Hamilton, David Beckham or Peter Clarke he is unlikely to achieve this dream!
