  Alan Beard  

Alan Beard - Chairman

Alan was 17 years old when he started working for Beard as a trainee in 1950 and took over the company in the 1970’s.   Now Chairman, Alan takes particular pleasure in identifying and nurturing new talent and mentoring senior staff of the future.  He also manages the property portfolio of the holding company.  Alan continues to be active in the local community and enjoys keeping fit with squash.

   

Mark Beard -   Managing Director

Managing Director of Beard since 1999, Mark’s key achievements include developing a culture which is focused on staff development,  customer service and continuous business modernisation.  Mark has responsibility for the strategic direction of the business, health and safety, the environment, human resources and marketing.  Mark is a full member of the CIOB and was awarded Oxfordshire Businessman of the Year in 2004.  Among his many other qualifications and memberships, Mark is a Chartered Environmentalist.

               
               
  Marc Bayley  

Marc Bayley - Construction Director, Swindon

Marc  has over 27 years’ experience of senior management roles in medium and large construction companies, during which time he has amassed extensive experience of managing construction projects in both the public and private sectors including traditional, negotiated, design and build, joint venture and two-stage tendered contracts.  Marc joined Beard in 2007 from a major national contractor where he was an Area Director.

  John Youle  

John Youle - Construction Director, Oxford

John joined Beard in January 2004 and is responsible for our Oxford office.  He began his career in construction as a site engineer for Bowmer Kirkland and progressed through the ranks of site, project and contracts manager. He subsequently held senior management positions with Miller, Haymills and Benson.  In 2003 John completed an MBA and his clear focus on customer service and teamwork has been key to the impressive growth of the Oxford office.

               
               
  Clive Bassett  

Clive Bassett - Finance Director

Clive trained as a Chartered Accountant and prior to Beard worked as a Commercial Director for a vehicle-based business providing turnkey solutions for vehicles to utilities companies and other blue chip organisations - he helped secure and deliver a 20 year PFI contract with London Fire Brigade.  He also worked in commercial and finance positions for automotive parts distributors and a serviced office management company, as well as spending some time working for KPMG.

  Chad Murrin  

Chad Murrin - Non-Executive Director

Chad had a long corporate career working in finance for the private equity and venture capital firm 3i.  In 1994 he worked on the very successful flotation of 3i Group plc on the London Stock Exchange and in 1999 became 3i’s Corporate Development Director.  Chad is a catalyst for raising standards and being a mentor and sounding board for the Managing Director.  He pushes the management team by contributing ideas and contacts, challenging in a constructive way and helping to improve business performance.
