Sarah, Duchess of York opens new extension at Enborne Church of England Primary School

Last month the Duchess of York opened the new £500,000 extension comprising a new hall, infant classroom, office and reception area, which took seven months to complete.

The Beard team had a number of challenges to complete on time - keeping water from a nearby stream out of the foundations, covering the playground with over fifty aluminium sheets, each weighing one tonne, to protect the surface during the project and finally building a steel frame to support the central roof light in the new hall which had to be craned in over the playground in six tonne sections.

Beard’s Chairman Alan Beard said: “There’s nothing quite so rewarding as building for the educational future of young people.  We have wide experience of working in live school environments where safety for children and staff is paramount. In every school project we try to involve pupils and teachers with fun site visits and talks and the team built a great relationship with Enborne School.”

Attending the School opening were Alan Beard, Chairman, Steve Gill, Customer Care Manager and Sean Considine, Site Manager for the school project.
