Building on firm foundations in Oxford

Business is booming in Oxford as Beard reaps the benefits of development and expansion.

With 40% more capacity, Beard's refurbished office in Cumnor Hill has accommodated the increase in staff that has been essential in supporting the company's growth. Over the last two years 26 new employees have joined the Oxford business.  Five of these are trainees. Encouraging new entrants into the construction industry and enabling young people to gain valuable hands-on experience whilst studying for construction qualifications has always been embedded within the company's philosophy.

John Youle, Beard Oxford Construction Director said:

"I am obviously very pleased with the growth and the performance of the Oxford business. However it is vital that we continue with our investment in our capability, so that the service and product standards we have set are maintained and raised.

Our visibility in Oxford has increased due to our growth and also to a conscious effort to raise our profile following our re-branding programme 2 years ago. Whilst this has many benefits it also means that we are more in the public and industry eyes.

I am confident that with the new staff we have on board, our supply chain and the expanded facilities both at the Oxford office and on our sites, that we can continue to deliver the blend of management and craft skills that has brought success to our customers and ourselves."

Kirsty Lever joined Beard in June 2007, and had this to say about the company:

“Some employees have been at Beard for a long time which is a good sign that people are comfortable with the environment and culture.  I found it incredibly easy to settle in: people are very friendly and welcoming.”

Beard has also continued to invest in its supply chain, IT systems, training and development programme and company management procedures. Beard was also accredited for the Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001.
