Beard marks 120th anniversary with ‘It’s a Knockout’ charity fund raiser
Oxford, 10 September 2012: Marking the company’s 120th anniversary Beard staff took part in an extremely competitive ‘It’s a Knockout’ style fund raiser on Saturday 8th September, supported by friends and family, in aid of The Newbury and District Cancer Care Trust.
Dubbed the ‘Beard Olympics’ the event took place at Tilsley Park in Abingdon, with six teams of eight, from trainees to directors, battling through a number of events involving giant inflatable obstacles, lots of water and of course plenty of foam. With brilliant sunshine, a range of side shows, including a bouncy castle, face painting and BBQ the day provided great entertainment for competitors and spectators alike, hoping to raise around £600.00 for the charity.
The winning team – ‘Paolo’s Warriors’ comprising of Liz Anderson, Paul Bridgman, Joanne Britton, Shaun Carter, Tim Kerrigan and Marc Roberts from the Swindon office and Dean Averies and Martin Wareham from the Oxford office.
Managing Director Mark Beard said: “Marking both the Olympic year and our own 120th anniversary was a great way to celebrate and at the same time to raise funds for a very deserving local charity. This type of event enables staff from all three offices, plus family and friends to meet, chat and generally have a great time together and it was great to see such competitive spirit.”
