John Youle ,
Oxford Construction Director

After graduating from Salford University with a degree in Building, one of John’s first jobs in construction was as a Site Engineer on Sainsburys at Heyford Hill in 1985! Since then he has progressed up the career ladder from project and regional management roles to Director and joined Beard as Construction Director in 2004.  John is a strong and respected leader and believes in teamwork to deliver customers’ aspirations. In his opinion being successful means having a sustainable business, the sustainable bit comes through having customers who will entrust future work to Beard and recommend the company to others.

Born and bred in Sheffield, where his mother still lives, John is a loyal Sheffield United supporter, but is not sure whether ‘enjoy’ is the right adjective to use when he goes up to Bramall Lane to watch the Blades play!

John is very proud of his family and one of his personal achievements has been managing to stay married to Dianne with whom he has 3 children: the eldest of which is about to go off to Bristol University to study medicine. The others have promising futures too!

A lover of the great outdoors, John enjoys mountain biking, hill-walking, rock climbing and skiing. He also has a motorbike and usually manages a short trip to the continent, where they are less obsessed with speed cameras and are more bike-friendly!

John thinks that happiness comes from people and experiences rather than things and believes we should enjoy them at the time rather than search for some elusive ideal!
