Work experience continues at Beard

Oxford team shows student the ropes

Work experience programmes continue at Beard, one of just a handful of construction companies to have achieved the Investors in People Gold Standard. The company believes it is crucial to get youngsters interested in construction and to support young people in Oxfordshire, each year providing opportunities for students and graduates to get hands on experience of the industry at its local offices on Cumnor Hill, Oxford.

This year the company has provided a week’s work experience for Jonathon Taylor, age 15, of Cherwell school.  The company also laid on 2 week placements at its Swindon office and took on two graduates for 12-week placement programmes over the summer college break. This year 10 students will have benefitted from the programme.

Beard Construction Director John Youle said: “As one of the top 1% of companies that have achieved the Investors in People Gold Standard it's essential that we continue to support young people in this way by providing opportunities to see at first hand what our industry offers.“
