Sleigh-pulling Beard team brings cash boost to Prospect Hospice
At the opening of Prospect Hospice’s Heart of the Hospice project – a major extension and alterations in which Beard was the construction partner, a cheque for almost £1300 was handed over. This represented the money raised by Beard from their pre-Christmas sleigh pull.
Angela Jordan, Prospect’s Chief Executive said: “We thank the team from Beard Construction for their generosity and effort in raising this money for us. It is particularly pleasing that they presented the cheque to us while we celebrate the opening of the Heart of the Hospice. We were delighted with the work of Beard Construction in making real our vision for a shared meeting and dining space for our patients, families and visitors, and welcome the opportunity of thanking them publicly for their work and their fundraising for Prospect Hospice.”
The £340,000 extension and alterations to create the ‘Heart of the Hospice’ were led by site manager, Richard Summers. In just four months the team created a terrific new dining and meeting space for patients, visitors, volunteers and staff, with refurbished kitchens as well as 1st floor offices.
Beard Construction Director Marc Bayley said: “Prospect Hospice is one of Beard’s nominated charities and it is particularly satisfying to have worked on such a worthwhile project. The construction team has done a great job at all times working to minimise disruption to the daily life of the Hospice, even creating a temporary reception area while construction proceeded.”
