New contracts for Beard Swindon

-Teams on site at eight projects accross region

Swindon, 28 April 2010: With a current order book of over £6.5 million and a positive trend in the number of new enquiries, Construction Director, Marc Bayley sees encouraging signs for the rest of the year.

The company has secured a range of new contracts across the region including initial contracts under a new multi-year framework agreement with Aspire Defence Services, where Beard is a preferred supplier – one to refurbish and remodel the Officer’s Mess at the Tidworth Garrison in Wiltshire and a second involving the construction of new offices for the MOD in Aldershot.

Other new contracts for the Swindon-based team include refurbishment projects at the Royal United Hospital in Bath to form a clean room for the Urology Department, a new internal secure area for Stanley Security Solutions in Swindon, and a new £1.3 million Salt Depot for Wiltshire Council in Marlborough.

The Education sector also remains strong with contracts for a new 7 classroom school building at Lydiard Millicent School, a new two storey administration block at Downe House School in Thatcham as well as school contracts in Bath and at Eton College.

Marc Bayley said: “Conditions are clearly still difficult but the start to the year has been better than expected.  We see good opportunities in a number of sectors with the housing and commercial areas moving in the right direction.  This will hopefully help fuel a sustainable recovery. The growing number of enquiries is encouraging and highlights that our customers see the business’ underlying strength and resilience, coupled with consistently delivering as a winning formula.”
