Beard sponsor Wiltshire Business of the Year 2008
Beard is pleased to continue its support of the Wiltshire Business of the Year Awards and will again be sponsoring the Sustainability Award in recognition of its commitment to the environment.
Having won the Training & Development Award in 2005, Beard have directly experienced the benefits of winning the award; raising it’s profile within Wiltshire, boosting staff morale, and further differentiating Beard from it’s competitors. Last year’s winner of the Environmental Award has experienced similar benefits. Melanie Teal, Chief Executive of The Consortium, told us:
“Winning the award certainly had a positive impact on staff motivation, helping them to recognise that we actually do quite a lot to manage our environmental impacts.
It really helped us to get staff fired up for the launch of our environmental green brand.”
This year we will be looking for organisations that have made significant progress in their environmental practices to reduce the impact of their operations on the environment. In practice, this could be lots of minor changes like sourcing office supplies from renewable sources, or major changes such as rethinking production processes.
The Wiltshire Business Award judges will be looking for evidence of:-
- A commitment and leadership from the top of the business to putting environmental issues at the centre of all the organisation does
- The embedding of a strong environmental ethos within the organisation
- Evidence that strategies are in place and being acted upon to reduce waste
- The encouragement for staff to consider environmental issues in their day to day activities
- A sustainable long term business model which gives due regard to the physical environment as well as financial, HR and customer issues
